Chloe Luff

God used my little sister, Dr. Ritchie and the Ark-Valley Humane Society to bring tiny Chloe into our lives. Little Chloe just kept growing and made us wonder. DNA testing showed that we rescued a UK show circuit purebred black lab going back four generations. Little Chloe turned into one big, verbal, mush of a black lab. She would sit with her head on your leg staring you down until you said the words she was waiting for. She would bring my wife her treat bone and then go to the pantry and get her peanut butter to be put in the bone. She was my wife’s walking buddy/protector every day and my backpacking and fishing buddy. My son said it best when he said, “Dad, she would follow you anywhere.” Very true, from just around the neighborhood to Little Sand Creek Lake at timberline in the Sangre De Christos. She even struggled through the boulder strewn sides of high mountain lakes jumping in the lake and swimming around the bigger obstacles to keep up. We only had Chloe for a little over 4 years. Too short. Milan Kundera said, “Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring – it was peace.” Thanks for a little bit of Eden, Chloe.
