Boo

Boo

We rescued Boo after she spent 2.5 yrs in the shelter. Before we got her, I visited her almost weekly at AVHS because she always brought me comfort and happiness. She fought cancer, severe allergies and severe asthma, and her little body had the lumps and scars to prove it. Based on the type of cancer, we knew it would come back, it was just a matter of when and where. We weighed the financial and emotional hardships versus the happiness she already brought us and the decision was easy! Two years later she was fighting kidney cancer, end stage kidney failure, lymphoma, severe allergies and severe asthma daily. And every day she welcomed us with her sweet voice, mischievous behavior and unconditional love and happiness! She fought all of her illnesses with such fierceness and tenacity for life that her symptoms were hard to see! Unfortunately, it spread to her heart and we knew immediately that we owed it to her to pass as peacefully and painless as possible. It's never a good time to let them go, but it was after 9pm on the Fourth of July as fireworks were lighting up the night skies. Our only choice this late at night, is Dr. Beth Ritchie. In two sentences we told her what was happening. Without us begging or even asking, she offered to leave her family, on a holiday, in order to give our family love and respect as we said our final good bye to such a special member of our family. She immediately cared about us and honored Boo the best and only way we could have that night. She went above and beyond as a vet and even gave a donation to AVHS in her name. Dr. Ritchie: words can't express how appreciative we are to you, and your family, for what you did for our family and what you continue to do for this community! We are truly indebted to you more than you know! Boo: we'll always love you, will be thankful for the time we had, and will remember you forever!
